What off-market means in practice
Off-market does not mean a permanent secret reserve, nor does it mean every suitable home sits outside public view. It describes a sale process with limited exposure: a property may be introduced selectively, without open advertising, or only after an initial conversation. The degree of discretion is set by the owner and can change as a sale progresses.
For a buyer, the value is not simply access. It is the opportunity to consider a relevant home in context: its micro-location, privacy from neighbours, approach, orientation, condition and the owner’s preferred timetable.
